Babies have a natural flora and fauna of the skin, which, when bathed, washes away and takes away warmth. Babies need warmth for growth and cell production. Massaging your baby with Calendula Baby Oil (or Baby Lotion) immediately after bathing replenishes this lost warmth.

Calendula Baby Soap

Use to wash baby's body and hair. When washing baby's hair, lather up really well between your hands to make lots of bubbles. With the bubble/lather, wash baby's hair, being careful not to get any in baby's eyes. There is no need to use "baby shampoo" (which is a detergent that totally strips natural body oil) on a baby's delicate hair and scalp to routinely wash baby's hair. If you have a baby/toddler with thick hair, it is recommended that you use a pea-sized amount of store-bought baby shampoo once in a while (once every 7-10 days) if you find the soap is just not cleaning the hair the way you want. Again, be mindful not to let this shampoo run into baby's eyes even if it claims to be "tear free"-- all that means is that it has an added numbing ingredient for eyes, not that it is truly "gentle". To "condition" baby's hair, simply rub a few drops of Calendula Baby Oil or Calendula Baby Lotion between hands and run through the hair while still wet/towel dried. Calciodoron-AM and Calciodoron-PM

(Formally Calcon-AM/Calcon-PM) Homeopathic Calcium Supplements

These products are great for both mother and baby. For mother, a pea-sized amount (1/4 tsp. approx.) of AM in the morning and a pea-sized amount of PM (1/4 tsp.) in the evening will provide the right amount of readily available calcium to meet daily calcium requirements for both pregnancy and lactation. The way it was explained to me by a representative for Weleda is that the Calciodoron-AM is the "Brick" and the Calciodoron-PM is the "Mortar" of bone development/regeneration. When mother takes Calciodoron, the nursing infant receives calcium needed for teething and teeth formation which can reduce symptoms of teething (sleeplessness, fussiness, irritability). If you have an extremely irritable teething baby, you can give these products to your baby as well. The dosage for infants is a tiny amount (approx. 1/8 tsp.).

These products are totally safe for baby and mother--homeopathically prepared by the pharmacists at Weleda to strict HPUS (Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States) standards. You or your baby could ingest the entire contents of both containers of Calcon with absolutely no side effects. That is the beauty of homeopathy. . . not that you would encourage it, but the products are safe to have around curious young children. (When my oldest daughter was 2, she ate an entire bottle of homeopathic tablets.
